At our flyball club meeting tonight, the idea came up that perhaps we should produce dog trading cards to distribute during the demo sessions we do throughout the year. Lots of kids come to these events and the team was thinking they would be popular among the younger set–although I think I would collect them too
I came home to do a quick mock-up of one–suggestions, ideas? I’ve never actually owned a trading card in my life, so I’m a bit clueless as to what goes into them.

It’s hard to believe it’s been five years since Shannon called me to tell me she had just delivered her first (and only) litter of Cardigan puppies. With several people eager to own a Digit x Bubba puppy, Shannon had quite a wait-list for the litter: she had many folks waiting for pet puppies, she herself wanted a show-quality male and I was hoping to get my first female performance Cardi.
She called me after the first two puppies had arrived: One gorgeous, enormous male and one petite, lovely female. She told me she’d call me back as soon as the rest of the litter had been delivered.
I waited. And waited. And waited.
Shannon called a few hours later and informed me there were just two puppies. Total. That was it. She also told me the female was mine if I wanted her and of course, I jumped at the chance.
The two puppies grew up and became everything we’d hoped for: Bentley earned his championship easily by the age of 12 months and Zoey had three AKC performance titles behind her name by the same age.
So here’s a huge “Thank You” to Shannon for the best blue-merle girly-girl I could have ever hoped for and a “Happy Birthday” to both Zoey and her big brother Bentley!

Pics from the first annual X-Fidos Gemini Birthday Bash are HERE!!
Saturday afternoon, we celebrated the many May and June birthdays of the X-Fidos–it would seem that an inordinate number of X-Fido members (both human and canine types) are Geminis. Coincidence? Perhaps, but maybe Gemini babies were born to do flyball.
Both dogs and humans seemed to enjoy the Bar-B-Q festivities. For the dogs, there were two primary activities: Looking for food and playing with tennis balls.

Yesterday the X-Fidos flyball club did a demo at the Multnomah County Fair. We had a great turnout (both in numbers of team members as well as spectators). The weather was absolutely beautiful and the dogs all did great. I couldn’t resist the chance to sneak around snapping some pics–as much as I love taking pics of my Corgis, I actually do enjoy the chance to work with other breeds on occassion
The slideshow from the fair is HERE! Enjoy.
